Hi. I'm a painter and a mother of three young children, one with a severe disability. This is a journal: riotously disorganized, full of art, food, children and everyday domestic events. Unless you are a friend or family member you may not be interested, but you are welcome to look. Artists who are parents may find some common ground here, as well as parents of children with special needs. For art only, see my site NancyBeaMiller.com

CHRYSANTHEMUM
On the dining table. They seem to glow, powered by some inner energy source.

TRANQUILITY
My friend Elisa stopped by with her seven week old son. There is something so elementally tranquil about having your universe encompassed by a loving parent's arms.

LATE NIGHT
Making the lunches, refrigerator humming and Daisy the Cat begging for scraps. Very peaceful.

PERFECTLY ASLEEP

Sleep sweetly, tender heart, in peace.
Sleep, holy spirit, blessed soul,
While the stars burn, the moons increase,
And the great ages onward roll.

HENRY AND THE ATLANTIC

Friends recently invited us to visit them in Loveladies, New Jersey. We had perfect weather, and Henry really became "one with the waves". My friend Kim said that it seemed like he was communicating with the sea in some language to which we are mostly deaf. Well, she said it more poetically than that, but I have three young boys and my memory is shot!

FOUND
For some reason, it is very hard to keep up with the cucumbers. They hide beneath the large floppy leaves, stealthily growing like mad. Then you wake up to find your cukes are no longer the tender little gherkin size you love, but are hanging there heavily like big green zucchinis.
